El diseño de la presente investigación es no experimental, puesto que no se manipulan variables, el modelo que sigue es correlacional – causal, en el cual se mide y explica el grado de relación que puedan existir entre la competencia lectora y el pensamiento creativo verbal, en los mismos estudiantes. Para ser más exactos, se busca establecer si hay o no una correlación, de qué tipo es y cuál es su grado o intensidad - cuán correlacionadas están. (Hernández et al. 2003). Para la medición de la Competencia lectora se utilizó el marco de referencia preliminar para la competencia lectora PISA 2018 y para el pensamiento creativo verbal, el Test de pensamiento creativo verbal de Torrance, con adaptaciones sugeridas por los autores de la presente investigación. Los resultados muestran que la correlación entre competencia lectora y creatividad verbal es positiva alta (R = 0,73) coincidiendo con trabajos similares que anteceden a la presente investigación.
