La metodología que abarcó este estudio fue la utilidad del paradigma interpretativo y su articulación al método fenomenológico, desde el enfoque cualitativo. Las informantes y criterios de selección, aludieron a mujeres estudiantes de Trabajo Social adscritas a la Corporación Universitaria del Caribe- CECAR, con edades comprendidas entre 16 y 29 años, con quienes se utilizó una entrevista semiestructurada. Finalmente, los resultados arrojaron que, las participantes contraen acérrimamente aspectos relacionados con el amor tradicional, en donde se evidenció el manejo de creencias, significados y actitudes que caracterizan a los mitos del amor romántico en medio de las relaciones de pareja, bajo la lógica teórica utilizada en este estudio. Sin embargo, desde otras perspectivas se denotó su impregnación implícita frente a los mitos, con raciocinio dentro de límites que no atenten contra su bienestar; respondiendo sutilmente a que es un factor protector para las mismas ante la prevención de la violencia de pareja.This research study on romantic love was born as a response to the critical-reflexive positions developed within the GEPORA seedbed, whose objective of this research was to determine the social representations of romantic love from the gender category in students of Social Work of the Corporación Universitaria del Caribe- CECAR; giving it logic from the categories of meanings, beliefs and attitudes of the theory of social representations which, in turn, is strengthened by articulating it with the theory of the gender category, which builds an ecumenical and highly consolidated vision in this research. The methodology used in this study was the usefulness of the interpretative paradigm and its articulation with the phenomenological method, from the qualitative approach. The informants and selection criteria alluded to women students of Social Work attached to the Corporación Universitaria del Caribe- CECAR, aged between 16 and 29 years, with whom a semi-structured interview was used. Finally, the results showed that the participants strongly contracted aspects related to traditional love, where the management of beliefs, meanings and attitudes that characterize the myths of romantic love in the midst of couple relationships was evidenced, under the theoretical logic used in this study. However, from other perspectives, their implicit impregnation of the myths was denoted, with reasoning within the limits that do not threaten their well-being; subtly responding that it is a protective factor for them in the prevention of intimate partner violence.
