En ese sentido, se examinaron normas del orden internacional, vinculantes para Colombia, y normas del orden nacional con especial énfasis de rango territorial para entender el marco integral de protección al medio ambiente; ello resulta relevante porque permite obtener un panorama claro sobre las herramientas jurídicas que se cuentan y, además, como insumo para el estudio de la eficacia y aplicación de los mecanismos para la protección del medio ambiente en las investigaciones subsiguientes.Environmental legal regulation of cities in Colombia is the result of a completed investigation on the protection of the environment through the legal regulations of the Colombian State, this segment of the research sought to indentify the country’s legal provisions related to the environment, keeping special relationship with the territorial entity concerning to the municipality and how this through the mayor’s office can achieve the vision of sustainable city.
