Para la medición, se construyó un instrumento basado en la encuesta de ‘Percepción ciudadana’ de la Red de ciudades Cómo Vamos, teniendo en cuenta solo las preguntas correspondientes a las variables de esta investigación. Participaron ciento veinte personas, de las cuales 60 han ejercido la participación ciudadana y 60 no la han ejercido; los primeros fueron reclutados a través de muestreo no probabilístico tipo Bola de Nieve, los segundos fueron escogidos entre per¬sonas que transitaban a diferentes horas en los puntos más importantes y concurridos de la ciudad. La hipótesis a comprobar era que a mayor participación ciudadana, mejor imagen frente a la gestión pública; para lo cual se analizaron y tabularon los datos mediante el programa SPSS/PC para Windows. Finalmente, la hipótesis no fue confirmada y el estudio arrojó que en el municipio de Sincelejo no existe una relación positiva entre el ejercicio de la participación ciudadana y la imagen de los ciudadanos frente a la gestión pública.This article exposes the relationship between the exercise of citizen participation and the image that the inhabitants have of the public management of the municipality of Sincelejo (Colombia), analyzing separately the image of those people who exercise the participation and the image of those people that do not exercise it. For the measurement was built an instrument based on the ‘Percepción Ciudadana’ survey of the cities network ‘Cómo Vamos’, taking into account only the questions corresponding to the variables of this investigation. One hundred and twenty people participated, of which 60 have exercised citizen participation and 60 have not exercised it; the first ones were recruited through non-probabilistic sampling, such as Snowball, the second ones were chosen among people who traveled at different times in the most important and busiest points of the city. The hypothesis to check was that the greater the citizen participation, the better the image of public management; for which the data was analyzed and tabulated using the SPSS / PC for Windows program.
