dc.description.abstract | Debido a las modificaciones ambientales que ha sufrido el río Magdalena y a la sobrepesca, las poblaciones de bocachico (Prochilodus magdalenae) han mostrado una disminución considerable en su tamaño y en sus capturas. Para evitar la extinción de esta especie, las autoridades ambientales de Colombia están implementando diversas estrategias, dentro de las que se destacan los programas de repoblamiento. Para esto, emplean semilla de bocachico obtenida de manera artificial en las estaciones piscícolas. Sin embargo, el desarrollo de estos programas, viene realizándose de manera arbitraria y sin ningún soporte científico que los respalde. Estos repoblamientos estarían agilizando la extinción de esta especie, puesto que las larvas utilizadas podrían estar presentando problemas de variabilidad genética, principalmente por los malos manejos de los reproductores en los centros piscícolas. El objetivo de esta investigación consistió en analizar la diversidad genética de lotes de bocachico utilizados en programas de repoblamiento, mediante marcadores moleculares microsatélites. Se utilizaron 60 reproductores provenientes de dos estaciones piscícolas ubicadas en los departamentos de Magdalena (SENA) y Atlántico (Repelón). Se utilizaron siete microsatélites polimórficos, que suministraban entre 10 y 35 alelos por locus. La diversidad genética encontrada para los lotes estudiados fue (SENA Ho< 0.1; Repelón Ho< 0.13), mientras que el grado de endogamia mostró valores altos (Fis>0.8). Es probable que estos resultados encontrados sean producto de un manejo inadecuado de los reproductores. Se discute la necesidad de introducir el criterio genético para mejorar las condiciones genéticas de los reproductores de bocachico utilizados para el repoblamiento en Colombia, de tal forma que permita garantizar la conservación de la especie. | |
dc.description.abstract | Due to the environmental modifications that the Magdalena River has suffered and to overfishing, the populations of bocachico (Prochilodus magdalenae) have shown a considerable decrease in their size and in their catches. To prevent the extinction of this species, the environmental authorities of Colombia are implementing various strategies, among which the repopulation programs stand out. For this, they use bocachico seed obtained artificially in the fish stations. However, the development of these programs has been carried out arbitrarily and without any scientific support to support them. These repopulations would be speeding up the extinction of this species, since the larvae used could be presenting problems of genetic variability, mainly due to the mishandling of the reproducers in the fish farms. The objective of this research was to analyze the genetic diversity of lots of bocachico used in repopulation programs, using microsatellite molecular markers. 60 breeders from two fish stations located in the departments of Magdalena (SENA) and Atlántico (Repelón) were used. Seven polymorphic microsatellites were used, providing between 10 and 35 alleles per locus. The genetic diversity found for the batches studied was (SENA Ho <0.1, Repelon Ho <0.13), while the degree of inbreeding showed high values (Fis> 0.8). It is likely that these results are the product of improper handling of the broodstock. The need to introduce genetic criteria to improve the genetic conditions of bocachico breeders used for repopulation in Colombia is discussed, in order to guarantee the conservation of the species. | |
