Abstract

La seguridad del paciente es un elemento esencial en la atención de calidad en salud, no solo como parte de la responsabilidad ética, sino también como parte del cumplimiento de la normativa vigente en el país, esto se hace más notorio en el área de cirugía donde el riesgo de que se presente un evento adverso se aumenta considerablemente. Se aplicó el Cuestionario Surveys on Patient Safety Culture® (SOPS®) Hospital Survey diseñado por la Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) para medir el clima de seguridad del paciente en el área de quirófano de una IPS en el departamento de Sucre, como parte del proceso de medición de la implementación del sistema de seguridad del paciente. Se encontró que la institución cuenta con fortalezas en las dimensiones trabajo en equipo, aprendizaje organizativo, apoyo de supervisores y comunicación acerca de errores, con lo que se logró obtener una visión general del clima de seguridad del paciente. Finalmente, se propone un programa de auditoría para la verificación de la implementación del sistema de seguridad del paciente en el servicio, teniendo en cuenta la normatividad vigente. Patient safety is an essential element in quality healthcare, not only as part of ethical responsibility but also as part of compliance with the current regulations in the country. This becomes even more evident in the surgical area, where the risk of an adverse event increases considerably. The Surveys on Patient Safety Culture® (SOPS®) Hospital Survey designed by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) was applied to measure the patient safety climate in the operating room area of an IPS in the department of Sucre, as part of the process of measuring the implementation of the patient safety system. It was found that the institution has strengths in the dimensions of teamwork, organizational learning, supervisor support, and communication about errors, which provided an overall view of the patient safety climate.
