CENTRO DE INTERPRETACIÓN DEL PATRIMONIO DE SANTIAGO DE TOLÚ

Abstract

La investigación objeto de este artículo, parte de la realización de un análisis a través de fuentes primarias y secundarias de los principales hechos que marcan la historia del municipio de Santiago de Tolú, con el objeto de proponer la creación de un centro de interpretación del patrimonio histórico de la Villa de Santiago de Tolú, epicentro del Golfo de Morrosquillo en el departamento de Sucre, realizando un estudio previo que permitió la identificación de su patrimonio, la documentación de los principales sucesos históricos y manifestaciones culturales del municipio en referencia. La metodología se aplicó en el municipio de Santiago de Tolú, en año y medio. Para llevarla a cabo se tuvo como punto de partida a los principales teóricos de los conceptos de patrimonio como Molano, Massó, Piñol y a la UNESCO como referente mundial en el patrimonio cultural; además de las consideraciones de la normatividad legal vigente acerca de Turismo y cultura. Los resultados obtenidos permiten concluir que el municipio de Santiago de Tolú tiene una gran importancia en la historia de Colombia, al destacarse como un importante centro de abastecimiento de los españoles en la colonia, sumado a su principal rol como uno de los principales puertos marítimos de la época, característica que conserva hasta el día de hoy, por su posición estratégica en la gran cuenca del Caribe Colombiano. Se espera que el Centro de Interpretación sea un instrumento para rescatar la memoria histórica del municipio de Santiago de Tolú, así como la diversificación de la oferta turística del mismo.

The research object of this article, part of the realization of an analysis through primary and secondary sources of the main facts that mark the history of the municipality of Santiago de Tolú, in order to propose the creation of a center for the interpretation of the historical heritage of the Villa de Santiago de Tolú, epicenter of the Gulf of Morrosquillo in the department of Sucre, carrying out a previous study that allowed the identification of its heritage, the documentation of the main historical events and cultural manifestations of the municipality in reference. The methodology was applied in the municipality of Santiago de Tolú, in a year and a half. In order to carry it out, the main theorists of heritage concepts such as Molano, Massó, Piñol and UNESCO as a world leader in cultural heritage were taken as a starting point; besides the considerations of the current legal regulations about Tourism and culture. The results obtained allow us to conclude that the municipality of Santiago de Tolú has a great importance in the history of Colombia, as it stands out as an important supply center of the Spaniards in the colony, added to its main role as one of the main maritime ports of the time, a feature that it has retained to this day, due to its strategic position in the great basin of the Colombian Caribbean. It is expected that the Interpretation Center will be an instrument to rescue the historical memory of the municipality of Santiago de Tolú, as well as the diversification of its tourist offer.
