Esta investigación tuvo como objetivo general describir las representaciones sociales sobre el cabello afro que tienen los estudiantes de décimo semestre del programa de psicología de CECAR. Para el desarrollo de la investigación se empleó una metodología mixta, usando para lo cualitativo una entrevista estructurada, junto con grupos focales y para lo cuantitativo una escala de actitud. Los resultados obtenidos en esta investigación revelaron que el tipo de conocimiento que prevalece en los estudiantes es el sensible, en las creencias se encontró que los estudiantes consideran que la población afro sufre rechazo social, laboral y en el ambito educativo, y el no cumplimiento de sus derechos, con respecto a la actitud se evidencio que los estudiantes presentan una actitud de aceptación hacia el cabello afro. The general objective of this research was to describe the social representations of afro hair that tenth- semester students of the CECAR psychology program have. For the development of the research, the qualitative methodology was used, under a grounded theory and interpretive paradigm approach, with the participation of 25 psychology students who underwent a structured interview, focus groups and an attitude scale towards Afro hair. The results obtained in this investigation revealed that the type of knowledge that prevails in the students is the sensitive one, in the beliefs it was found that the students consider that the Afro population suffers social, labor and educational rejection, and the non-compliance of their rights, with respect to the attitude, it was evidenced that the students present an attitude of acceptance towards afro hair.
